Short Bio

Anja Hergesell is a Researcher and Lecturer at the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management. Before joining MODUL University Vienna, she worked as research assistant and lecturer at the University of Southern Denmark engaging in a European research project on tourism innovation and learning in the North Sea Region and teaching International Tourism. Anja has gained international work experience in the hospitality industry and has been serving as secretary of the B.E.S.T. Education Network. She holds a B.Sc. in International Business and Modern Languages from the University of Southern Denmark, a Diplom in International Tourism Studies from Hochschule Harz, Germany and an M.A. in European Tourism Management from Bournemouth University, UK. In her graduate thesis she investigated the influence of the World Heritage Certification on destination choice focusing on the city of Dresden. Her research interests include heritage tourism, business travel, destination management, tourism planning and policy.
