A peek inside ''Human Relations and Personal Development''

In Human Relations and Personal Development, a core course in the Bachelor of Business Administration in Tourism, Hotel Management and Operations study program led by researcher and lecturer Stefan Dressler, students are encouraged to cooperate with NGOs and create social value by engaging in active community service.

On September 27th, a number of social partners including Amnesty International Austria, Papageien Arge (Parrot Sanctuary), Social Friends, Wiener Tafel, and MU Cares introduced their organizations, presented their missions, and provided students with inspiration and ideas for future collaboration. Throughout the semester, students actively engage and participate in different activities to support these valuable organizations by means of community service.

By applying the theoretical knowledge that they acquire in class in practice, students illustrate a classic example of the service-learning teaching approach central to this course. In this way, students have the chance to develop their own personality and enrich our society through meaningful collaboration with socially responsible organizations that share the core MU values of diversity, integrity, and mutual respect.

While most of the organizations in attendance are external partners, MU Cares is an initiative conceived of by the Student Service Center at MODUL University Vienna. MU Cares is a wide-ranging concept that promotes active student engagement and development in keeping with the MU core values. Students who demonstrate initiative and achievement in areas of community, personal, and professional development are eligible to receive this comprehensive certificate upon completion of their studies. In this way, the Human Relations and Personal Development course and the MU Cares Intercultural Certificate are a perfect complement to one another, providing a platform and a framework for student engagement that will guide them throughout their studies.
