Alumni Spotlight - Julia Heigl, BBA '12

MODUL University’s BBA graduates tend to pursue international careers within their field of expertise, the hospitality and tourism industry. But which other options are there? How transferable are these skills? MU alumna Julia Heigl is a great example of someone who successfully entered the luxury goods industry after graduating from MODUL University’s BBA Tourism and Hospitality Management program.

Julia Heigl entered the business world fully equipped with state-of-the-art management competencies, leadership skills, and strategic thinking. Her first job after graduation was at a tourism marketing agency in Vienna realizing marketing campaigns for tourism regions all over Austria. Due to the versatility of this job and being equipped with an MU education which taught her to think out of the box and to tackle new challenges, she was able to gain valuable marketing experience. Her non-traditional approach became the centerpiece of her work.

Open for new challenges, she accepted a position in April 2014 at Raymond Weil, a luxury Swiss watch brand, which has been present in the Austrian market for over 38 years. As her education and work experience prepared her for her new responsibilities as the Marketing and Sales Manager, the transition from the tourism industry to the luxury industry was smooth.

She is now striving to create unique and sustainable marketing campaigns enhancing and strengthening market value of Raymond Weil, with the aim is to create the highest level of visibility possible in the Austrian target market. As marketing and sales are two areas in a company that must tightly go hand in hand, she is also in regular contact with customers and responsible for sales activities of all kind, demanding a high level of travel activity throughout Austria.

“I am excited for this new challenge in this new business branch with the experience I was able to gain in the tourism industry,’’ says Julia about her new position.

The staff at MODUL Career, Modul University’s career center, are very proud of Julia’s achievements and wish her the very best for her future!
