Successful re-accreditation: UN World Tourism Organization honors MODUL University Vienna

The TedQual Certification of the United Nations World Tourism Organization is the highest and most prestigious award in the field of tertiary tourism education and requires exceptional excellence in research and teaching. MODUL University Vienna has been TedQual-certified since 2012 and has been re-accredited, following an extensive assessment procedure. The Bachelor of Business Administration in Tourism and Hospitality Management, the Master of International Tourism Management and the Master of Business Administration with a major in Hotel Management have all received this recognition of excellence.

High practical relevance and sustainability

A number of quality criteria have to be met in order to qualify for accreditation. For example, important prerequisites include a high level of practical relevance to training, anchoring in and the promotion of sustainability in the study programs and individual support of the students. Prof. Dr. Karl Wöber, President of MODUL University Vienna, says "one of the essential requirements of the TedQual certification is the collaborative development of studies with the involvement of the tourism industry, which can be guaranteed by our industry-specific Industry Advisory Boards."

MODUL University is at present the only university in Austria with the TedQual distinction. Dr. Wöber explains why it plays a pioneering role here, among other things, through long-term and regular cooperation with various sub-organizations of the UNWTO (World Tourism Organization). "It was therefore an obvious goal to pursue the certification developed by the UNWTO. The TedQual certification is well-known in the industry and helps us to position MODUL University Vienna as one of the universities with the best tourism studies worldwide."

Globally sought-after experts

For students of MODUL University Vienna, the high quality of the study programs is par for the course during their studies, but their education especially shines once they enter the industry after graduation. "There are no other universities in Austria, and indeed only a few in the whole world, where you can study tourism from Bachelor to PhD level. The basis of the award-winning tourism studies is broad business management and research-oriented tourism curricula, where the development of innovation is promoted through the imparting of methodological knowledge. Most of our students get a job immediately after graduation, and profit from the actuality and practical usability of the knowledge they have gained at MODUL University. "
