Tim Lammarsch joins the Department of New Media Technology

The Department of New Media Technology recently welcomed Tim Lammarsch as Assistant Professor. He got his PhD from Vienna University of Technology in 2010, while working as a research associate at the Department of Information and Knowledge Engineering (ike) at Danube University Krems (DUK), Austria, and previously graduated in computer engineering in 2005 from the University of Mannheim, Germany.

His research can be located in the fields of Visual Analytics, Visualization with focus on Information Visualization, Temporal Data Mining, Human-Computer Interaction, and Interactive Computer Graphics. A particular focus is research into the structural composition of time and time-oriented data, and combining time with other data aspects, like space or networks. Beyond research, he has long-time experience in software development and scientific typesetting.

While a postdoctoral researcher at the research project HypoVis in 2011-2014, he participated in developing the TimeBench data model and software library for Visual Analytics of time-oriented data.

At the Department of New Media Technology, he will continue his research and integrate it into the projects of the department including DecarboNet, PHEME, and uComp.
