MU attends ATMC in Maribor

MU faculty member Xavier Matteucci has just returned from Maribor, Slovenia where he participated in the 4th Advances in Tourism Marketing Conference (ATMC) from September 6th to September 8th.

In June of last year, Prof. Dr. Dagmar Lund-Durlacher took over as Chair of the BEST Education Network, which is an international consortium of educators committed to furthering the development and dissemination of knowledge in the field of sustainable tourism. One of the most important happenings within the network is the annual Think Tank, where new research is presented, sustainable tourism topics are addressed, and research and educational materials for use in undergraduate education are developed.

International Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Information Retrieval

KDIR is one of three conferences held simultaneously under the umbrella of the IC3K, located in Valencia, Spain. This joint conference strongly supports the communication of scientists of different research areas. The opening keynote was held by Rudi Studer, summarizing current approaches in the Semantic Web area.

European Conference on Machine Learning and Principle and Practice of Knowledge Discovery in Databases (ECML PKDD)

The ECML PKDD is a technical conference on cutting-edge innovations in the areas of machine learning and knowledge discovery. It was held in Barcelona, Spain, at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. The keynote by Prof. Hod Lipson offered insights on current trends in robotics and machine learning.

European Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ECAI-2010)

The European Conference on Artificial Intelligence (ECAI), one of the most influential conferences in the area of Artificial Intelligence, attracts researchers from many areas such as Robotics, Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning. The biannual conference is a forum for the discussion and presentation of a wide range of applications from ontology engineering to dancing robots and even work on the famous game "Go".

BEST EN Think Tank X at MODUL 27 – 30 June

This year the annual Think Tank of the BEST Education Network was hosted at MODUL University Vienna. The BEST EN is an international consortium of educators committed to furthering the development and dissemination of knowledge in the field of sustainable tourism. At a BEST EN Think Tank, research is presented, sustainable tourism topics are addressed, and research and educational materials for use in undergraduate education are developed. 

Elite Group of Tourism Researchers Gathered in Vienna

From March 25th – 28th, the foremost tourism researchers of Europe gathered for the first time in Vienna to attend the annual conference of the Tourist Research Center (http://trc.aiest.org). The „Who‘s Who“ of tourism research came together not only to discuss current research projects but also the forthcoming challenges for tourism especially with consideration of the difficult economic situation faced today.

MODUL University Vienna hosts the 45th Annual Meeting of the Tourist Research Center (TRC)

Once again MODUL University Vienna will host an important international meeting on tourism research. From March 25 to 28, 2010 the members of the Tourist Research Center (TRC) will gather at this center for international education and research on Kahlenberg for their annual meeting. Founded in the mid 1960s, the Tourist Research Center is a reputable association of Europe’s most important researchers and consultants. The members of this association have a background in economics and other social sciences, and have demonstrated significant involvement in research in tourism.
