MU Vienna and ECM launch a new initiative on city tourism benchmarking

MU Vienna and European Cities Marketing (ECM) launched a new joint project on city tourism competitiveness during the association’s last meeting in March 2009. The initiative is the result of a long-term collaboration between MODUL University Vienna and the organization.
The new joint initiative aims at benchmarking the cost of tourism consumption across destinations for city tourism in Europe. The data collected reflect the cost for final consumers to purchase holiday-related services at a destination, individually and for different consumers’ segments.
The technological support for the project is provided through TourMIS, the online management information system developed by Prof. Wöber (MU Vienna) and provides tourism managers with information and decision support for tourism managers (www.tourmis.info).
The innovative project was presented on the occasion of European Cities Marketing's Spring meeting in Dublin. With more than 130 members, the association promotes and links the interests of more than 134 major cities from 32 countries.
All ECM members interested in the project are kindly asked to contact Ms. Valeria Croce for more information.
