MU Vienna signed European MOU for a sustainable and competitive tourism

From June 30 until July 1, 2009, Anja Hergesell represented MU Vienna at the first conference on European Universities for a sustainable and competitive tourism. The conference was organized by the University of Florence on behalf of NECSTouR (Network of European Regions for a Sustainable and Competitive Tourism), a network of regions that is designed to develop models that involve tourist destinations in the creation of a European tourist offer based on the principles of sustainability and competitiveness. The initiative was also supported by the European Commission and ernest (European Research Network on Sustainable Tourism).

MU Vienna was one of the selected universities that were invited to present at the conference and be part of the academic support network of NECSTouR. Anja provided an overview of MU Vienna’s contributions to research on the sustainability of tourist destinations and signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on behalf of the university president. The latter confirms MU Vienna’s intention to join the prestigious Network of European Universities for a sustainable and competitive tourism.
