Indian Nation Tourism Leader at MU Vienna

On 27 November 2009, Ben Sherman, member of the Oglala Lakota Indian Nation and a national leader in the development of American Indian tourism efforts in the United States gave a guest presentation on “Universal Tourism Values from a Native Perspective” at MODUL University within the guest lecture series Latest Trends and Innovations in Tourism.
In his speech he presented the basic values of Native Americans. Native people are legendary in their trusting and generous welcoming of visitors from afar. Native people carry a deep respect and abiding love for the earth, and all the living things that create the sacred circle of life. Native values of generosity, respect and spirituality shape guiding principles for a brand of hospitality and sustainability that offers universal appeal. Tourism enterprises worldwide can do well to learn the wisdom and teachings of Native people that express the importance of treating landscapes with the greatest respect.
