You've got to love Vienna
Social Media Marketing - Hands On!
MODUL University Vienna 6th semester students just finished an applied online marketing project in cooperation with the Vienna Tourist Board (www.vienna.info). The students who took part in the e-Marketing seminar designed a social media campaign which covers prominent social networks such as facebook, youtube, twitter and flickr. The aim of the campaign is to present Vienna to an international audience of young travelers and show what Vienna has to offer beyond prestigious imperial heritage sights.
The facebook fanpage www.facebook.com/vienna.love is the core component of the campaign and is designed as a joint platform for fans of Vienna for sharing news and information about events in the city. A foto and video contest offers the chance to win weekly prizes and the best submission will win a 3 nights stay in the city. Besides the attractive facebook fanpage and presence in the other social networks, the students designed the following teaser video promoting the contest:
Below there are some examples of weekly submissions which show the creativity of the contest participants and how they experience Vienna. After 3 contest weeks there have been 40 photos and 3 videos submitted, and the campaign page attractec more than 550 fans.

Furthermore, they acquired both knowledge as well as practical experience in designing and implementing e‐Marketing campaigns in cooperation with industry partners and effectively leverage third‐party tools and knowledge repositories.
The overall campaign was very successful and also provided benefit to the Vienna Tourist Board. Vienna's online marketing team gained interesting insights in the world of social media marketing based on the experience of MODUL University Vienna's students and is going to extend the campaign.
