Giving students the chance to develop as good citizens is a key part of their educational experience. That's what led MU to recognize one of their own recently - BBA student Simon Hala received the "Student Volunteer Award" for his contributions to student and community life during the Fall 2011-2012 semester.

A warm meal can go a long way to making someone's day just a little easier - that's the principle that led a team of student volunteers (part of the MU Cares charity program) to the Gruft's soup kitchen for the homeless. Enthused by a previous charity cookoff to help refugee asylum seekers, students arranged to take over the soup kitchen in the basement of the Barnabitenkirche on Mariahilferstrasse for an afternoon. 

As a young university, MU is continuously developing. As a small university, MU is in the rare position of being able to adapt quickly to meet the evolving needs of its student community.

By day, Thomas Trinkl studies Tourism and Hospitality Management on Kahlenberg. By night he can be found, like many students, at nightlife hotspots around the city - but unlike the others he's not there to celebrate the end of exams or the start of a new semester.  Each weekend, Thomas trades in his books and calculator for headphones and vinyl as he spins his own brand of electronic music for crowds of revellers.

Though the demands of full-time school and university social lives are exacting, MU's Student Representatives still find the time to give back to their community by showing leadership and initiative.

Sometimes all it takes to go from struggles to smiles is a little bit of help from someone who's willing to share. Just ask Bachelor students Roman Kollar and Sara Hanulikova, who are smiling wide after their recent performance in accounting class. Theirs is among the first of the MU Learning Program's success stories.

MU students and staff put their hospitality skills to the test on Saturday night as they cooked up a storm at a fundraising event for charity partner Grenzenlos Kochen. Our team of ten volunteers joined others in a grand cook-off to raise money for the organization, dedicated to assisting asylum-seekers in Austria.

Ten teams of enthusiastic footballers competed for glory and great prizes this weekend at the MU Friendly Football Tournament. Held each semester, the tourney is a chance for students to be active, have fun, play the beautiful game, and show off their creativity in the “best-dressed team” competition.

When it comes time for class discussions in business management courses, MU student Rochel Sarikov can contribute a unique point of view – that of an up-and-coming entrepreneur.

In addition to the variety of extracurricular activities centering on sport, charity, wine appreciation, and more, MU is committed to furthering student success with the launch of its newest service.

The MU Learning Program was recently introduced to help students needing academic assistance. Available to students in any semester, the program ensures they get the support they need to accomplish their goals, succeed throughout their studies, and graduate on time.
