Spotlight on young hospitality talents

This March 29th, the General Managers Council (GMC) invited participants, industry representatives and guests to the Hotel Sacher for the 8th annual Young Hotelier Award (YHA) contest. Heralding a new tradition, Professor Wöber presented the inaugural MODUL Award to Christina Baumer from the Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof. Ms. Baumer will cap her current professional career with an MBA in Tourism Management study on a full scholarship provided by MODUL University Vienna.

On March 3rd and 4th, faculty of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management attended the first European Culinary Tourism Conference held at the FHWien University of Applied Sciences.

From the 9th to the 11th of March, MODUL Career and the Department of THM were joined by students from the BBA Program in Tourism and Hospitality Management and the MSc Program in International Tourism Management in attending the largest tourism fair in Europe, the ITB in Berlin.

European Culinary Tourism Conference, March 3rd and 4th, Vienna

MU staff member and recent graduate Sandra Staniek will present her bachelor thesis study at the European Culinary Tourism Conference hosted by the FH Wien on March 3rd and 4th.  In her study, Sandra analyzed the culinary offerings at Kahlenberg and by application of a choice model identified the preferred product characteristics for this tourist destination. 

MU faculty on Erasmus study visit in Breda, NL

As part of the ERASMUS framework, MODUL faculty Florian Aubke was invited for an extended study visit at NHTV University of Applied Sciences in Breda, The Netherlands.

An Active Start for BBA Students

As in previous years, students new to the BBA Program in Tourism and Hospitality Management enjoyed an active day outside the lecture theatre. Under professional guidance, participants got to know themselves and their fellow students better and actively experienced the five values of MU Vienna – Stewardship, Knowledge, Progress and Innovation, Ethics and Mutual Respect. The photos of this event show that fun, active participation and teamwork play an important role in the development of a vibrant student life here at MU Vienna.

MU Vienna is among the few internationally recognized academic institutions have been accepted by IDeaS for their Academic Partner Program. The goal of the IDeaS Academic Partner Program is to help move the revenue management industry forward by empowering both students and graduates with knowledge to impact the industry.

Sustainability on Tour

Following the principles of integrating sustainability across the program at MODUL University Vienna, a group of students from the BBA program in Tourism and Hospitality Management embarked on an excursion to the Kamptal, 80km north-west of Vienna. At the first stop, the “Arche Noah Schaugarten” in Schiltern, students learned about the importance of biodiversity and the need to protect and cultivate rare plants, fruits and vegetables.
