Operations Management

Students get familiar with the principal methods of Operations Management, especially with the process view of an organization. They learn about the basic performance measures of business processes and their relationship and how to classify processes. Furthermore, they gain a basic knowledge of methods and tools for process improvement, like capacity and flow time analysis and the principles of Lean Management.
After successfully completing this course, students will, amongst other things, be able to define, analyze and measure the performance of business processes; position a process in the OM triangle by reducing workloads and increasing information; make suggestions for process improvement using the principles of lean management; and evaluate the benefits of pooling operational and market risks.
