Accommodation for Exchange Students
Besides the application procedure and the formalities of the visa application, it is also necessary to find a suitable accommodation. There are various options for you depending on your individual needs and lifestyle. MODUL University Vienna can provide assistance to accepted students wishing to live in student housing by offering a placement with a designated dorm organization with whom we cooperate. If students wish to live in another student dorm outside of this organization or if students wish to live in private accomodation, this must be arranged by the student.
Student residences There is a whole range of student residences in Vienna. Lists of all the residences with detailed descriptions of furniture, rent and application formalities are available at:

- www.cycamp.at (in German only)
Flat/apartment sharing
A very common alternative to living in a student residence is sharing a flat/apartment with other students. These are websites where you can search for a suitable place:
- http://wohnen.career.at (in German only, follow ‘Mietobjekt suchen’)
- www.studieren.at/wohnen (in German only, follow ‘wohnen’)
Renting a flat/apartment
Before signing a rental agreement it is advisable to gather information about your rights and duties and to have the rental contract checked by an expert (www.mieterbund.at will help you). Looking for a flat can be time-consuming. It is best to be in town for that so you might want to stay in a hostel or hotel for that period. Through www.wien.info you can find short-term accommodation.
If you commission an estate agency with the search you have to pay commission (usually several months’ rents) for this service. Take into account that deposits might have to be paid as well as payments for previous investments.
