Dr. Daniel Fesenmaier is the Professor and Director of the National Laboratory for Tourism and eCommerce for the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Temple University. He is also Professor in the Department of Management Information Systems (MIS), Fox School of Business, Temple University. He is Co-director, the Tourism Education Futures Institute (TEFI), Fellow at the International Academy for the Study of Tourism, Visiting Fellow at the Institute for Innovation in Business and Social Research (IIBSoR) University of Wollongong, Australia and Adjunct Professor, MODUL University Vienna.
Dr. Fesenmaier is author of over 250 articles dealing with tourism marketing, advertising evaluation and information technology. He has co-authored a monograph titled Assessing and Developing Tourism Resources, co-edited 5 books, is co-founding editor of an international journal titled Tourism Analysis and is Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Information Technology and Tourism.
Dr. Fesenmaier has received a number of awards for his teaching and research. In particular, he has been recognized twice for excellence in teaching through the “Incomplete List of Instructors Rated as Excellent by Their Students,” at the University of Illinois. For excellence in research, he has received the King J. McCristal Outstanding Scholars Award, University of Illinois, the Medal of Exceptional Scholarly Achievement (2007) from the International Academy of Culture, Tourism and Hospitality Research, the Michael. D. Olsen Research Award (2010) from the University of Delaware, the Faculty Research Award (2010), Temple University, and the Outstanding Researcher Award from the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Temple University (2010); additionally, he co-authored papers that have received the Best Paper Award in the Journal of Travel Research (2009) and the Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing (2004), as well as Best Conference Paper Awards at ENTER2003, ENTER2004 and ENTER2010, at the 8th Annual Graduate Students Conference in Hospitality and Tourism(2003), and at the International Chrie Conference (2008).
