- Xavier Matteucci is a researcher and lecturer at the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management. His main research interests are the tourist experience, tourism impacts, transformative travel, cultural tourism, second home tourism, sustainability, regionalism and authenticity issues. Before joining MODUL University Vienna, he has worked for both inbound and outbound tour operating businesses for 5 years in France and Canada. Xavier has extensively traveled (backpacked) across Europe, Canada and some regions of the Caribbean and South America. He holds a BA Honors degree in Modern Languages and International Business from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, France (1997) and a MSc in Tourism Management from the University of Surrey, UK (1998). His Master’s dissertation explored the social and cultural impacts of the San Fermin festival in Pamplona, Spain. His current PhD research investigates the tourist experience of intangible heritage on their holiday to Spain. At MU, Xavier either teaches or has taught Tourism Economics, Tourism Analysis and Academic Writing. Beside his position at MU, Xavier is also an external lecturer at the Vienna University of Applied Sciences (FHWien).
