In today’s interconnected world, ecology and economy are linked like never before. Volatile oil prices, energy supply insecurities and concerns about climate change are focusing attention on energy efficiency.
Customers increasingly include green criteria when choosing products. This is also true for information technology, an energy consuming infrastructure that is expected to continue its growth path. This development has become known under the term “Green IT”.
Is Green IT a new trend, an interim hype, a marketing vehicle or can this be a genuine approach to sustainable energy efficiency in information technology?
Using industry examples and offerings you will hear about the different aspects of Green IT or Green Computing. Not only hardware components with a power plug contribute to Green IT, but also Software and other aspects like tele-working.
Biography
Sabine Fleischmann is an independent management consultant focusing on business sparring in the information technology industry and on people management coaching. Sabine started her professional career as a Software Developer at IKEA Information Services Eastern Europe in 1990. Later she joined Oracle in the Technical Consulting Service followed by Microsoft, where she held various management positions in the areas Services, Business Solutions, Business Development and Sales. Before starting her management consulting business Sabine was the Managing Director of Sun Microsystems in Austria.
