Online Collaboration, Virtual Communities and Social Networks
Online communities are among the most obvious manifestations of social networks based on new media technology. Facilitating ad-hoc communication and leveraging collective intelligence by matching similar or related users have become important success factors in almost every successful business plan. Besides having a closer look at the basic principles and critical success factors of social networks, this course will provide students with a better understanding of how to improve collaborative work-flows in both personal and public environments.
At the end of the course, students will be able to analyze the benefits and risks of social networks, identify active market participants, and develop best-practice strategies for creating and managing online communities.
