MU at BEST EN Think Tank XI in Philadelphia [3]

From the 21st to the 24th of May, the BEST Education Network held its eleventh annual Think Tank entitled ‘Learning for Sustainable Tourism’ at Temple University in Philadelphia, USA. Dr. Dagmar Lund-Durlacher, chair of the BEST EN network, and Tina Rønhovde Tiller, BEST EN secretary and researcher and lecturer at MU, have been busy planning the conference the past six months, since BEST EN officially moved house to MU at last year’s Think Tank in Vienna.

In June of last year, Prof. Dr. Dagmar Lund-Durlacher took over as Chair of the BEST Education Network, which is an international consortium of educators committed to furthering the development and dissemination of knowledge in the field of sustainable tourism. One of the most important happenings within the network is the annual Think Tank, where new research is presented, sustainable tourism topics are addressed, and research and educational materials for use in undergraduate education are developed.

This year the annual Think Tank of the BEST Education Network was hosted at MODUL University Vienna. The BEST EN is an international consortium of educators committed to furthering the development and dissemination of knowledge in the field of sustainable tourism. At a BEST EN Think Tank, research is presented, sustainable tourism topics are addressed, and research and educational materials for use in undergraduate education are developed. 

MODUL on jury of EDEN Sustainability Award [7]

Prof. Dagmar Lund-Durlacher of MODUL University served as chair of the jury when this year's EDEN award was given to the Seelentium [8] recreation area, a region located south-east of the Inn river. EDEN stands for European Destinations of Excellence, and is a project promoting sustainable tourism development models across the European Union.

MODUL University in 2nd place at 2010 Sustainability Awards [9]

MODUL University was awarded 2nd place in the category 'structural foundations' encouraging sustainable development at the 2010 Sustainability Award presented by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research for its Sustainability Committee.

MODUL University Vienna at the Future of Tourism Education Summit 2010 [10]

From April 15-18, 2010, the fourth Future of Tourism Education Summit took place in San Sebastian, Spain. This year 33 representatives of 20 leading universities offering study programs in tourism attended the Summit in order to discuss the future of tourism education. MODUL University Vienna was represented by Professor Dagmar Lund-Durlacher and Professor Karl Wöber.
