The MU Vienna Merit Scholarships are granted to currently enrolled students in all programs on the basis of academic excellence and extracurricular involvement. Applications for the Merit Scholarships can be submitted within the application period from December 1 until December 15. The Merit Scholarship Committee (MSC), consisting of two faculty members and one student, evaluates applications and proposes grant recipients to the Term Conference for a final decision. Currently, the chair of the MSC is Prof. Harvey Goldstein [1].

Amount and number of grants
The number of grants per stage and their amount will depend on the amount of money available per academic year. The available amount of money for each stage and academic year will be fixed together with the university budget for the forthcoming academic year and will be allocated to all awarded students depending on their individual performance.
How and when to apply
Applicants must submit:
Applications (letter and supporting documents) are submitted to the Student Service Center, which forwards them to the Merit Scholarship Committee (MSC).
Students must apply by December 15th. The award will be granted before March 31st.
Decisions by the MSC are published in the showcase next to the Academic Office.
*The previous academic year runs from September through June, possibly including the November exam period.
** For courses with group assessments, students may request that the grades for one of these courses per semester be excluded from the average grade for the scholarship period (previous academic year). This can be requested for a maximum of 1 course per semester for each scholarship period.
