This year's conference of the Travel and Tourism Research Association - European Chapter will be held in Bilbao, Spain from 18 to 20 April. The overall conference theme is "Performance Measurement and Management in Tourism".

At this year’s International Tourism Fair in Berlin (ITB), a research team from MODUL University Vienna in cooperation with European Cities Marketing (ECM) presented a report on ‘’Tourism Demand in European Cities, 2011’’. Based on an analysis of 57 European cities, the figures prepared by MODUL Research highlight last year’s performance of Europe’s resilient and still buoyant city tourism sector.

Oksana Sydor, currently enrolled in the MBA in Tourism Management, is putting her education to good use. In her native Ukraine, she recently organized the “Win with the Lion” Tourism Conference, taking place from November 24 – 27, 2011 in Ukraine’s westernmost city of Lviv.
As part of our ongoing Latest Trends series, MU invited Dr. Caroline Scarles of the University of Surrey to discuss her research on an increasingly important topic - Sustainable Tourism.
MU’s Mentoring Program offers a unique opportunity to pair BBA students of Tourism and Hospitality Management in their final year of studies with a senior representative in the tourism and hospitality industry.
The student body at MU continues to grow, so does our faculty. With over 100 new Modulians beginning their studies this semester, former external lecturer Ursula Christine Loisch has joined the full-time faculty. As a member of the Tourism Department, she has a full plate this semester as Assistant Professor/Senior Lecturer teaching Innovation and Change Management, Leadership and Ethics, Conflict Management, Leadership and Teambuilding, and Principles of Management, in both the BBA and MSc programs.
Alongside other top tourism experts, MU Prof. Dagmar Lund-Durlacher spoke at the 21st Naturefriends Environmental Conference in Graz on September 30th. The conference addressed how increasing climate change in the alpine region affects tourism to these areas, and how winter-sport enthusiasts and tourism providers alike will have to adapt to new circumstances.
