For the third consecutive year, Vienna has been found to be the best city in the world when it comes to quality of living. The capital of Austria has successfully maintained its top-ranking position in the international Mercer study on the quality of living in cities.
The Mercer study takes into account 39 criteria, including the political, social and economic climate, medical services, education, and infrastructure facilities, including public transportation, power and water utilities. The cities were evaluated according to leisure facilities such as restaurants, theaters, cinemas, sports facilities, availability of consumer goods ranging from food to automobiles, and environmental factors including green space and air quality.
According to Josef Papousek, CEO of Mercer Austria, Vienna’s top performance in the overall ranking is primarily based on the high degree of safety and political stability the city offers, as well as on its well-functioning infrastructure.
