Scholarship of Hope

This scholarship is open to MODUL University undergraduate and graduate students of all study programs. In order to apply for the scholarship, students should develop innovative ideas in the area of sustainability that meet the needs of the present and improve the welfare of future generations. The ideas should be able to be implemented at MU in order to continue and support our ongoing goal of becoming one of the most sustainable universities.

Application format: There are no specific formal requirements for the application. The application should cover the following items: initiation/existing problem, outline how the contribution is linked to sustainability, and a guideline for implementation. The application can be in the form of a written proposal not exceeding 2,000 words. Alternatively, a video DVD of max. 10min can be submitted.
Selection: Recipients are selected by a subgroup of the Sustainability Committee based on the review of the students’ project proposals. A maximum of 3 ideas will be awarded with a scholarship. The winner(s) are selected based on the quality of the application, creativity/innovativeness, feasibility and sustainability relation.
Award amount: min. €500 - max. €1,500.
Responsibilities: The winning contribution(s) are to be presented to faculty, staff and invited students.

Eligibility: Open to all MODUL University's undergraduate and graduate students.

This scholarship was originally founded by Prof. Daniel Fesenmaier of Temple University, USA, who wanted to stimulate students to come up with an original and innovative idea for a development strategy in tourism. Presently, scholarship funds are generated during events and from various sponsor donations.   Additionally, some faculty members of MODUL University generously donate their lecture and speakers' fees to the Scholarship of Hope.

Sustainability Award for MU faculty and staff

The recently created Sustainability Award for faculty and staff members aims to encourage MU employees to develop innovative ideas, preferably ones that can be implemented and realized at MU.
Application format: There are no specific formal requirements for the application.
Selection: Recipients are selected at the discretion of the Sustainability Committee based on the review of the employees’ project proposals.
Award: A one year ticket for public transportation in Vienna.
Deadline for submission: 15th of November of every year (send submissions to: sabine.sedlacek[AT]modul.ac.at)
Eligibility: Open to all MODUL University employees.
