Public notice regarding the campus in Dubai

Modul University Vienna wishes to make the following statement with regard to the situation surrounding MU Vienna and the campus in Dubai:

In 2016, a cooperation agreement was entered into with DIID Management DMCC, which permitted the campus in Dubai to offer study programs of MU Vienna under MU Vienna’s brand and MU Vienna’s Austrian Accreditation in Dubai. While the courses and exams were conducted in Dubai, MU Vienna retained responsibility for all measures of quality assurance and final issuance of graduation documents.

While the agreement was in place, the Dubai campus repeatedly failed or refused to provide MU Vienna with vital information pertaining to student admissions records, academic records, and even basic student contact information hindering MU Vienna to fulfil its part of the agreement. Due to the fact that several attempts from our side failed to solve these and other issues with the Dubai management, our side was compelled to terminate the cooperation agreement in October 2018. Subsequently, the Dubai-based licensing body, Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) determined on 28 October 2018, that all further student enrollment and re-enrollment regarding the Dubai campus ceases with immediate effect. Further, the Austrian Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation (AQ Austria) withdrew the accreditation of the Dubai campus programs effective 18th February 2019.

This means that the campus in Dubai is no longer entitled to offer MU Vienna’s accredited degrees or make claims to MU Vienna’s brand.

For students enrolled at the campus in Dubai before 28th October 2018 who wish to pursue an AQ Austria accredited degree, MU Vienna has set up a teach-out plan noticed by AQ Austria that will allow any eligible student to complete an MU Vienna degree by transferring to MU Vienna’s campus in Austria or by completing their degree through a distance learning option wherein study materials will be provided via an e-learning platform, exercises, homework and papers will be submitted online, lectures will be made available as videos and course examinations will be proctored at a designated venue to be determined. For more information on either of these options, please see below.

Unfortunately, the Dubai campus has continued to withhold the contact information of students enrolled at the campus in Dubai. This has severely hindered our efforts to inform and advise those affected. For this reason, we have been forced to reach out to students individually using the limited contact information we have on file and through local UAE-based news outlets. The nature of this conflict has also restricted the degree of information we’ve been able to share publically, which has no doubt been a source of frustration for those affected. We find this regrettable, and we sincerely hope that we can help all affected students find a resolution via one of the options we have made available via our teach-out plan.

If you believe you are affected by this situation, please contact our campus at dubaistudentssymbolmodul.acpunktat

Sincerely,

The MU Vienna University Board
