Ellen Padilla joins MODUL Career

The MODUL Career team welcomes Ellen Padilla as the new MODUL Career officer! She is half-American, half-German and grew up in both her parents’ homelands, spending her childhood in Wiesbaden, Germany, and her high school years Denver, Colorado, in the USA.

Completely bilingual in English and German, Ellen completed an apprenticeship as a Foreign Language Secretary in 2012 at the Obermayr Business School in Wiesbaden, Germany. She is currently in the final stretch of her B.A. in International Culture and Management, where she is specializing in Business Psychology at the European Management School in Mainz, Germany. After graduation, she will start the Msc Management at MODUL University this spring.

Ellen shares how she came to love Vienna:

‘’After an unsuccessful attempt at a semester abroad in Istanbul, Turkey in the fall of 2015, due to problems with the host university, I came to Vienna for another attempt at my mandatory semester abroad in September of 2016. I absolutely fell in love with Vienna and MU, which is why I decided to stay here for my graduate studies. Through a coincidence, a position as a MODUL Career Officer came up, which enabled me to also combine my working life with my upcoming graduate life here in Vienna!’’

Despite her young age, she has already collected a wealth of work experience. ‘’I have always valued working while going to school, for many reasons, but especially because it kept me grounded and broadened my horizon. I started working at a very young age starting with menial jobs in restaurants and retail, which I have always kept as second and third jobs, next to my studies. From here I worked my way into administrative jobs (with the US Army and TNT Express GmbH), into a marketing internship (with hotel friends Mittelrhein), into an office management internship (with Colorado Orthopaedics) and most recently into a business network recruiter position for two smaller recruiting agencies in Wiesbaden, Germany.’’

At MODUL Career she will be put her administrative and people skills to excellent use, aiding MU students and alumni in their career choices, organizing and conducting MODUL Career events and maintaining and expanding alumni relations.

Welcome Ellen!
