MU Vienna gives guest lectures at Booking.com

MODUL University Vienna were recently welcomed to the offices of Booking.com in Vienna to take part in the company's "Educational Fridays" event. Two Master of Science students as well as MU Vienna's Senior Researcher and Assistant Professor Lidija Lalicic were invited to present guest lectures to employees of the online travel booking giant. As part of an internal initiative to keep up to date with the latest research topics in Tourism, Hospitality and Travel in academia, our MU representatives gave the following talks:

  • Competitiveness of Slovakia as a tourism destination - Marianna Schweitzerova (MSc Student)
  • How does (a place of your choice) co-create benefits with tourists?- Flora Charon (MSc Student)
  • This City is absolutely Fun and Trendy: A Destination Brand Personality Analysis in a Web 2.0 setting. - Lidija Lalicic (Senior Researcher and Assistant Professor at MU Vienna)

The study undertaken by Lidija Lalicic analyzed online reviews from hotels, restaurants and popular tourist sights using the theory of brand personality. Various significant differences between the service settings are demonstrated as well as their effects on the overall rating scale.

The talks were well received by the booking.com staff and were a good opportunity for our Master level students to present their work in an informal lecture setting. This is not the first time MODUL University Vienna has worked closely with online companies to share information between academia and the start-up scene. To celebrate the launch of the new Major in Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Leadership MU Vienna hosted an evening of entrepreneurial experiences and networking.
