New BSc Program Manager Mia Xu

The Academic Office is pleased to welcome Mia Xu to the position of BSc Program Manager and Office Assistant. She was born in China and moved with her parents to a number of different countries as a small child before finally settling down in Edmonton, Canada at the age of 5. She grew up with a multi-cultural and bilingual background, and is completely fluent in both English and Mandarin.

Mia’s internationally-minded disposition led her to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration from Les Roches International School of Hotel Management in Switzerland. During her Bachelor degree she had the opportunity to live in several different places, whether for exchange or work, including the Maldives, Shanghai, China; Nice, France and Marbella, Spain.

‘’Whether it is because of my interest in different cultures or my personality, travelling and meeting people with a story are both essential in my life,’’ says Mia. ‘’I’ve visited many cities in Europe, of which Vienna, London, and Barcelona are my favourites, I’ve travelled to Mexico, Morocco, and backpacked through Asia. Within next couple of years, I would like to volunteer in Nepal, climb Machu Picchu, and visit India.’’

She doesn’t just sit on the beach at her far-flung destinations, she also is an avid adventurer pursuing activities such as advanced diving, wakeboarding, bungee-jumping, and hiking, and recently ran the Vienna City half-marathon.

At MODUL University, Mia handles the administration and organization of the semester for all BSc students, as well as travel organization for lecturers, lecturer data and contracts, issuing transcripts, coordinating orientation and graduation, website maintenance, and student counseling.
