New 'CineMo' student club for aspiring filmmakers

Community building is the key to the rich student life at MODUL University Vienna. The many student clubs at MU help to encourage community building by capitalizing on the shared interests and hobbies of our diverse student community. Currently, MU has 15 vibrant student clubs that cover a broad range of interests including sports, entrepreneurship, career building, social engagement, food, and culture. The newest addition to our group of clubs managed by students for students is CineMo, a club for aspiring filmmakers at MU that debuted at our biannual Student Life Fair in March 2016.

The founding members of CineMo, Sophie Paiker, Cristina Iulia Enescu, and Shahad Aboud, describe CineMo as a club for anyone who has the desire to create and to make something out of nothing. The club members want to tell stories, and tell them well. Short films, mini-series and movie review shows -the club will put anything it makes on YouTube for the world to see!

While they realize that they may not be professionals, the members of CineMo know that everyone has to start somewhere. Learning by doing is the motto and the club members believe that they can inspire each other to become better filmmakers and storytellers. Above all, creating something they can be proud of is the most important thing for CineMo because you only get a short amount of time to pursue the things you care about and that time is now.

The founding members have always been interested in filmmaking, but never had the courage to start. They hope that after a lot of practice, they will be able to make something that is good enough to submit to a film festival. And in the meantime, CineMo wants to entertain the people of MODUL University Vienna and make them laugh, cry and think.
