Students and faculty present new research at ISCONTOUR 2018

Around 250 participants from more than 30 countries gathered in the picturesque city of Krems, Austria to participate in the International Student Conference in Tourism Research (ISCONTOUR) and the Doctoral Summer School from IFITT 2018, hosted by FH Krems from the 14th-15th of May.

As a chair of the Doctoral Summer School, Dr. Lidija Lalicic held a workshop on social media and data analysis, providing students an idea how to creative work with data from tourism firms' Facebook pages and Twitter accounts.

''The conference is a great experience for students to present their seminar or bachelor work as well as to meet and network with peers from other universities'', says Lidija. ''The keynotes and workshops furthermore give students the newest knowledge on cutting-edge topics in the field. We hope to see more students joining us in the future!''

On the second day, Prof. Astrid Dickinger held a key note speech discussing how to leverage user-generated content to strategically position products and services based on various research projects conducted at MU.

Two students presented their work at the conference: Ludmila Tibulschi, MSc student, presented her bachelor thesis related to AirBnb hosts, and PhD student Yuliya Kolomoyets presented her ongoing PhD work related to text mining of online reviews and service quality, for which she received the second best paper award.

Overall, a very successful conference for MU!
