STUDY ABROAD EXTENSION - NEW YORK CITY

Depending on your semester start, students will either spend the first semester (Spring start) or first 2 semesters (Fall start) in Vienna, focusing on first preparing you with principal concepts of hospitality management.

Moving to the US from August, New York City College of Technology is located in Brooklyn, and your home for the next year. Here you will benefit from CUNY’s Hospitality Management Department’s expertise taking on courses that will build on the foundation you laid down with your professors in Vienna, such as Professional Alliances, Workforce Management in a Global Marketplace, and Perspectives in Hospitality Management.

During your 2 semesters spent in New York, courses in Culinary Arts, Food Sanitation and Safety Principles, and an Introduction to Food and Beverage Management will provide practical skills and expertise to successfully succeed in a professional hospitality environment.

Further courses in Facilities Design and Property Management, Lodging Operations Management, and Dining Room Operations will strengthen and round out your knowledge with running a successful business in the hospitality sector.

Returning to Vienna for your two final years of study, we build on your management skills as well as the opportunity for students to put all the knowledge and skills learnt in New York with a 900-hour internship as well as your bachelor thesis and completing the final modules of the program.

Why should you choose Tourism, Hotel Management and Operations?

This program is the perfect choice for high school graduates who have no practical education in the tourism and hospitality industry prior to entering the program (via apprenticeship, vocational school, associate degrees, etc.). The advantage of this 4-year program is also that the university will support you in gaining professional experience during your internship semester. After your graduation you will have proof of professional experience in this industry which is very valuable for your immediate career start.
