Sharing economy or collaborative commerce is based on the idea of exchanging services or assets between people usually on an online platform. This idea of sharing economy is considered disruptive to the conventional economy since the sharing economy services have already captured large market shares. In this class we will examine the driving forces behind the rise of sharing economy as well as investigate sharing economy phenomenon from different perspectives; environmental, economical, societal, and political. Examples from different industries such as Airbnb and Uber will be used as best cases to elaborate on the subject.
