Given the dynamic nature of the travel and tourism market and the incorporation of information technology into many aspects of tourists’ decision-making, marketers need to confront new information technology. This course aims to ensure that students understand the evolution of networked information technology, and its impact on the travel and tourism market. This will enable students to develop strategies for gathering and utilizing an organization’s most important asset: information.
This is an introductory course into the field of information systems with the main goal of familiarizing students with the basic notions related to information systems and the underlying information and communication technologies. Firstly, the course aims to broaden the students’ knowledge of state of the art technologies beyond the technologies that they use on a daily basis and to organize this knowledge into a unifying framework. Secondly, the course will provide an insight into emerging technology trends and therefore empower students to gain a competitive advantage in this area.
