Josef Benedikt studied Geographic Information Science at the University of Vienna, Austria and the University of California, Santa Barbara, USA. He holds degrees in geography (Mag., Dr.) from the University of Vienna. His doctoral thesis focused on Geographic Information Processing using Uncertain Knowledge (Fuzzy Logic) and Satellite Image Processing.
In 1996 he has established GeoLogic and has offered teaching and consulting services using spatial data and information since. Teaching assignments included a visiting faculty position at the University of Redlands, CA, USA and lectures at the University of Vienna, University Colleges of Teacher Education and Universities of Applied Science in Austria. International consulting in multidisciplinary teams of experts took him to Peru, Vietnam and Uzbekistan.
He is actively pursuing research activities jointly with academic institutions and publishes results as book contributions as well as at national and international conferences and in journals, respectively. He has served as a reviewer on International Journals like Environmental Sciences, Fuzzy Sets and Systems and CORP conference.
Josef Benedikt is Honorary Member of the Ecological Economical Institute (EcoEco), Hanoi, Vietnam, affiliate of the ECAI-Initiative, USA, member of the Austrian Geographical Society and the Austrian Society of Applied Geography.
