Walter Brugger
Short Bio
Walter Brugger is a graduate of the University of Vienna (JD/Dr iur 1978). A lawyer since 1983, he is one of the founding partners of DORDA BRUGGER JORDIS law firm in Vienna.
His practice specializes in corporate restructurings, competition and cartel law. He has advised numerous national and international clients, in particular, in the gravel and concrete sector, telecommunication and the pharmaceutical industry, on M&A, joint ventures, outsourcing, corporate restructurings (including the squeeze-out of minority shareholders of listed companies), mergers and de-merger projects. He covers contract and corporate law. His practice in the area of competition law extends to all aspects of Austrian and European antitrust law, in particular, merger control, cartel law, cases involving the abuse of market power as well as agency and distributorship, covering out-of-court advice as well as representation before anti-trust authorities and litigation.
In addition to his law practice, Walter Brugger has published a book on "Unternehmenserwerb - Acquisition of Business Enterprises", contributed to two major commentaries on the Law of GmbH (limited company) and published numerous articles in Austrian and international professional journals on corporate and competition law. The Vienna University of Technology (Institute of Management Sciences) awarded Walter Brugger the title Honorarprofessor (honorary professor) with the right to teach corporate and competition law at the university (venia legendi). Further, he teaches at the Executive MBA course for Mergers & Acquisitions (University of Vienna, TU Vienna), and is a lecturer in M&A at the Lawyer's Academy and runs specialized seminars on corporate and competition law.
