Joanne is a Researcher and Lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Service Management of Modul University Vienna. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Tourism Event Management from Macao Institute for Tourism Studies and a Master of Arts in Innovation and Management in Tourism with distinction from Salzburg University of Applied Sciences. Before joining Modul University Vienna, Joanne has accumulated several years of experience in conducting scientific research. She has published over 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals, in addition to a number of book chapters and conference papers/presentations.
Joanne’s research interests center on destination marketing, tourist experience, consumer psychology, human-robot interaction, and social media analysis in tourism. In the last few years, Joanne also extends her methodological knowledge in the field of eye tracking technology, machine learning, and natural language processing. Results of her work have been published in academic journals such as Annals of Tourism Research, Tourism Management, Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services, Journal of Hospitality Marketing & Management, and Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research, among many others. Joanne is also part of the scientific committee for ENTER and serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for multiple journals and conferences.
2021: 2nd Place Best Research Paper (Full Paper) Award at the International ENTER Conference on Information and Communication Technologies in Tourism.
2019: Young Researcher Best Presentation Award at the Travel and Tourism Research Association TTRA Europe Chapter.
2018: Best Research Paper Award at the Tourism Education Student Summit, Macao.
