Meet Sarah Ware, BSc and Foundation Program Manager

Sarah Ware has joined the MODUL team as Program Manager for the BSc and Foundation Program. After graduating from a Bachelor of Environmental Planning in 2005, she worked as a town planning consultant in Brisbane and Melbourne until making the decision to move to Austria in 2014 to pursue her Masters in Socio-ecological Economics and Policy at WU. With a keen interest in the built and natural environment and the future of our socio-economic system, Sarah is also teaching our Foundation Program course in Geography and Economics.

In her role as Program Manager she is counseling and supporting students throughout the semester to ensure best performance; supporting faculty, staff and external lecturers in preparing for the semester; planning the semester and course registration; and handling credit transfers, document requests and graduation procedures.

‘’I am interested in questioning the status quo, how our current systems operate and in bringing moral and ethical considerations back into economics,’’ says Sarah. ‘’I see the economy as embedded in our social and biophysical environments, and it is from this perspective that we can begin to ask fundamental questions about how our societies are organised and redefine our understanding of 'value' and 'progress'. I strongly believe that what we are taught can shape our future decisions and I hope to provide an open platform for students to critically assess their own values, beliefs and understandings of the world and, rather than accept things for how they are, form a view of how they would like it to be.’’

In addition to her tasks at MU, she is a jewellery maker and designer with a self-titled label and occasionally participates in design markets. Although she grew up by the beach on the Gold Coast in Australia, she loves living in Vienna as it's such a vibrant city with a great music and arts scene.

Welcome Sarah!
