MU welcomes Lidija Lalicic, MSc, to the faculty

Our newest addition to the MU faculty comes to us from the Netherlands, via a number of European stops along the way. Lidija Lalicic, MSc, is a Researcher and Lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Hospitality, and the liaison officer for partner unis the University of Angers, France and the University of Mayab, Mexico.

She was born and raised in the restaurant business in Gulpen, The Netherlands, and gets her Balkan name and blonde curls come from her Montenegrin father. She began her post-secondary career on home turf, completing her Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Tourism and Event Management at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences in Maastricht.

During her undergraduate studies she did several internships around the Netherlands and in heart of the European Union, Brussels in Belgium, gathering a plethora of work experience in high standard service-related businesses. Additionally she has participated in different projects for high class- congresses and events like ''The European Fine Art fair -TEFAF'' and ''Cradle to Cradle'', an organization promoting sustainable development for businesses.

Lidija also holds a Master of Science degree of the European Master in Tourism Management from the University of Girona, Spain. However her passion for travel and experiencing different cultures firsthand led her to spend three semesters abroad in Spain, Denmark and Slovenia. She completed her master thesis back home, focusing on decision making processes for tourists.

During both of her studies she was a mentor for new incoming students and an ambassador for Nobiles Media, a company with the aim to inform students about jobs opportunities, internships, and studying abroad.

Due to her experiences in different international settings, she speaks her native language of Dutch as well as English, French, and Spanish. She also knows what inter-cultural communication is all about!

In addition to lecturing in the Marketing Research course in the BBA program, Lidija will start her PhD with MU Associate Professor Astrid Dickinger as her supervisor. Her research interests lie mainly within the fields of tourist behavior, customer relationship management, and service management.

A recent recruit to Vienna, she fills her free time up by running, discovering new places, dancing, and going to concerts.
