The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management at MODUL University Vienna is seeking four outstanding scholars to join our dynamic team! The assistant professor positions are open to candidates who can teach and conduct research in the areas of tourism economics and forecasting, information communication technology, and business education. We are a research university with a strong commitment to conducting cutting-edge research and scholarship, innovative and engaging teaching, and knowledge transfer to the larger European community and beyond.

Assistant Professor in Tourism Economics

  • Doctorate in economics or business administration with a strong background in econometrics and statistics
  • A strong research interest in the fields of quantitative economics (i.e., econometric modeling, impact analysis based on input-output-analysis, CGE-modeling, etc.) and forecasting especially regarding tourism

Assistant Professor in Tourism and Information Communication Technology

  • Doctorate in business administration, business informatics, computer science, or related fields
  • A strong research interest in the fields of online consumer behavior, interactive marketing and decision support systems especially regarding tourism 

Assistant Professor in Tourism Education

  • Doctorate in business education, education, business administration, or a closely related field
  • A strong research interest in the fields of (higher) business education, innovations in teaching, lifelong-learning especially regarding tourism, teacher training research and methodological research
  • Design, evaluation and implementation of innovation in the business school system with a special focus on Schools and Colleges of Tourism

Assistant Professor in Tourism and Transport

  • Doctorate in engineering, geography, business administration, sociology, or a closely related field
  • A strong research interest in the fields of mobility, sustainable transport, energy use, climate change especially regarding tourism

Essential Qualifications for All Positions

  • Evidence of outstanding research ability and potential, through a record of publications and participation in relevant research projects
  • Extensive experience with quantitative research methods and software such as SPSS, SAS, EViews, Stata or R
  • Experience and established commitment to high quality teaching
  • Excellent spoken and written English language skills
