Prof. Lund-Durlacher speaks at CSR Conference in Vienna

On January 13th and 14th, 2011 at the International Fair for Holidays, Travel and Leisure, the first two day Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Conference was organized in cooperation with Naturefriends International and ECPAT (End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes), the international organization for children’s rights.

MODUL University Vienna's Prof. Lund-Durlacher spoke about integrating CSR in the hotel industry, and the challenges for cooperation between hotels and the local community in enhancing sustainable tourism development in a destination.In addition, she led a workshop on CSR-standards in the hotel sector together with CSR experts Nicole Häusler from Mascontour, a consulting company in Berlin, and Andreas Koch, of TUI Germany.

Other workshops focused on pertinent topics such as CSR in the aviation industry, creative ways of developing environmentally friendly travel offers, and the child protection code of the tourism industry. A comparative study on sustainability and CSR quality seals and concept was presented, as well as numerous individual projects including TourCert - a CSR-certifications for tour operators, Green Travel Bridge - how sustainable offers get from the destination to the consumer, DestiNet - a information and networking platform for sustainable tourism, Futouris - the tourism industry initiative for sustainable tourism projects, Green Globe - the international sustainability label for the tourism industry and klima:aktiv - offers of the climate protection initiative for tourism.
