DWBI (Digital Well-Being Index for Vienna) 
This project will develop knowledge extraction algorithms to measure well-being in the Vienna region, and provide a visual analytics dashboard to understand changes in subjective well-being by region and over time. This will detect relevant trends in subjective citizen experiences and measure the level of agreement with specific social or political measures.
EPOCH

Through EPOCH we will measure the effects on statistical indicators of events being reported in the news and social media. Innovatively, it will use the measured effects of now past events to predict the future changes expected due to future events detected in the public dialogue. Through the EPOCH dashboard, organizations can identify and thus better prepare for these changes, adapting their communications, marketing and resources accordingly. This will be demonstrated in the domains of purchase price forecasting and public relations. This project is carried out by Modul Technology. 

GENTIO
Aims for radical innovation in the way we produce, enrich and analyse digital content. The project will develop a flexible Deep Learning Architecture to unify the understanding of text at three fundamental levels: structure, content and context. In the first use case, we will experiment with new methods for communications experts to maximize the impact of data-driven publishing. In the second use case, we will correct and classify noisy output from Optical Character Recognition (OCR) systems. Through multilingual and highly scalable knowledge graph technologies, the envisioned approach will be applicable across numerous domains and regions. This project is carried out by Modul Technology.
EcoMove
The project develop knowledge-based solutions for efficient and environmentally sustainable movement in cities, providing customized information about available mobility options. Real-time recommendations for delaying, avoiding or taking alternative options will be presented visually to the users – city residents, visitors, and professional stakeholders – in order to prioritize “necessary” mobility. The City of Vienna will serve as the use case, but the developed methods will be generic and applicable to other cities and regions in follow-up projects.
Media Watch on Climate Change.
To increase awareness and the availability of environmental information, this project provides a comprehensive and continuously updated account of online media coverage on climate change and related issues. The portal aggregates, filters and visualizes environmental content from the Web sites of various stakeholders in English, French, German and Spanish language. Winner of the Digital Earth 3D Visualization Challenge 2007, held in conjunction with the 5th International Symposium on Digital Earth.
ECOresearch.
The interdisciplinary Research Network on Environmental Online Communication brings scientists of different backgrounds together to explore the development, management, promotion and evaluation of networked information systems that advocate sustainability and the protection of natural ecosystems. The network supports the research activities of its members, identifies synergies, coordinates the various projects and helps with resource acquisition.
