This fee will be waived for students who return the signed contract and pay the first invoice within 15 days.
THINGS TO REMEMBER
- This is “residence registration”. Everyone who lives in Vienna must have one and you must register or deregister within 3 days of moving in or out.
- The residence registration form must be signed by you and the person (or company) who owns and is renting the house or flat to you. If you change accommodation, you must remember to deregister and reregister.
- If you come from a visa-requiring country, this document is mandatory for collecting your residence permit card in Vienna. You can make an appointment to register your residence beforehand, so you can do it upon arrival in Vienna.
- EU/EEA or Swiss citizens staying longer than 3 months are required to obtain the registration certificate (Anmeldebescheinigung) within 4 months of their arrival to Austria. The certificate can be applied for in the local immigration office (MA35) and students need to present the following:
- Passport/ID
- Meldezettel
- Proof of employment, study, or sufficient means
- Vienna is made up of 23 districts. You can tell which district a location is in by looking at the 4-digit postcode or zip code. For example, MU’s postal code is 1190, the middle 2 digits denote the district!
- First district 1010 - this is the center of Vienna, or the Innere Stadt. It is home to many of Vienna’s oldest attractions, like Stephansdom.
- Modul University is in the 19th district, Döbling, renowned for hiking trails, vineyards and wine taverns, which you can see looking down from campus!
- Like most modern cities, all the districts are easily accessible via underground train (U-Bahn), trams or buses. Our campus is easily reached by public transportation. Take the green U4 subway line to the end station stop Heiligenstadt. From there take the bus line 38A approximately 20-25 minutes to the station Kahlenberg, dropping you directly at the University. You may also take the tram depending on your residence location. The tram 38 ends in Grinzing, where you can then connect to the 38A bus, taking around 15 minutes up to campus. We also have free parking available on campus.
- In order to move around the city with smoothly, we recommend you take advantage of the student semester ticket (for students under 26 years of age it costs 75 Euros). At the moment, as a Modul student, you can only get the semester ticket in person. You will need your Meldezettel, bank card and confirmation that you are a student.
