This exciting joint program, bridging two of the world’s top destinations for tourism education, allows students to earn two bachelor's degrees whilst gaining valuable international experience.

The Joint Mobility Degree underscores MU Vienna’s commitment to providing education with an international outlook. A commitment which is already present in a spectrum of tourism and hospitality degree programs, popular study abroad initiatives and long-standing traditions in tourism management.

Vienna to Hong Kong: Two Bachelor’s Degrees in Four Years

Modul University Vienna, in partnership with Hong Kong Polytechnic University, has initiated a BBA/BSc Joint Mobility Degree program, set to commence with its first cohort in September 2024.

This agreement, forged in 2023, paves the way for students to achieve two globally recognized degrees: a BBA in Tourism and Hospitality Management from Modul University Vienna and a BSc (Hons) in Hotel and Tourism Management from Hong Kong Polytechnic University's School of Hotel and Tourism Management.

The program, spanning eight semesters and amounting to 240 ECTS, offers specializations in Smart Tourism & Hospitality, Event & Experience Management, and Hotel Management. This unique educational path allows students to immerse themselves in the thriving tourism sectors of Vienna and Hong Kong.

MU Rector Prof.Dr. Karl Wöber expresses his enthusiasm for the partnership: “The School of Hotel and Tourism Management at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is the leader in tourism and hospitality in Asia, leading almost all major professional rankings worldwide. We are proud to be part of this international partnership and to accompany our students on their way to becoming successful global leaders.”

A Tale of Two Cities: One Year in NYC

The collaborative program with Hong Kong Polytechnic University builds on an already-established history of international education. Since 2023, students of the BBA in Tourism, Hotel Management & Operations program have the unique opportunity to spend a year living and learning in New York City.

This immersive experience, held in collaboration with the CUNY Hospitality Management Department at the New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn, allows students to delve into various aspects of the hospitality industry.

During their stay, students engage in courses focusing on culinary arts, food safety, and beverage management, acquiring practical skills essential for a professional setting. Additional courses cover areas like facility design, lodging operations, and dining room management, providing a comprehensive understanding of running a hospitality business.

Upon returning to Vienna for the final two years, students apply their New York experiences in a 900-hour internship and complete their bachelor's thesis. This New York extension, worth 30 credits (equivalent to 60 ECTS), enriches the four-year program, blending international exposure with robust academic learning.
