In case the student graduates with a lower score or decides to solely complete the High School Leaving Certificate, then the student will be eligible to enrol to one of our bachelor programs based on the following conditions: completing our one semester Foundation Programs in Business or Technology, as well as an entrance examination. The student can apply directly for the bachelor's program of their choice and will receive a conditional admission.

For PhD applicants, your interview will take place with both an Admission Coordinator and the Dean of the PhD program. The interview will be conducted on Microsoft Teams.
During your interview, you will be asked about your application and motivation to study at MU Vienna.

We are looking for motivated and enthusiastic students who are engaging and conduct good conversational English. This is also your chance to ask any questions you might have.

Once you are accepted, sign your study contract and make your first tuition payment, you can proceed with your application for credit transfer as outlined below. Working in Admissions means being the first point of contact for our future students. Every application tells a story, and our role in Admissions is to recognize the potential behind each one. Seeing students I once interviewed walk across the campus as part of our community reminds me how meaningful personal guidance can be. It’s not just about admissions, it’s about helping people start a new chapter of their lives with trust and belonging.

Most popular questions answered by the MU Team

You can use the student portal to download a copy of your curriculum overview, which provides a clear overview of what courses you should take in each semester of your studies.

The admissions process typically takes a few weeks from application submission to decision. This includes document review and, if required, an interview. You will hear if your application has been successful usually within 10 days after your application interview. If admitted, you will receive notification and relevant documents by email.  If unsuccessful, all applicants will receive notification also by email.

New students register for courses at the new student orientation. Continuing students can expect to register in the weeks before the semester starts using the registration page available in the student portal. Exact dates and times are posted online and in the student bulletin.

You can already go ahead and apply! If accepted, we will offer you a ‘provisional acceptance’, which means that a place in the program is reserved for you. This place will become definite once you submit your certificate to us. You must submit your most up-to-date transcript with your application.

We can review your application if you can provide evidence that you already booked your English exam date.
Please note that students who need a Visa to study in Austria can not receive a Conditional Acceptance letter if the proof of English proficiency has not been provided.

We recommend that you reach out to the people you would like to be your referees first and ask them to write you a short recommendation on letter-headed paper, saved as a PDF that you can upload to your application. The recommendation letter should be signed by the recommender.
  • For MSc applicants, we require 2 references from academic sources.
  • For MBA applicants, we require 1 academic reference and 1 professional/workplace reference, or 2 academic references.
  • For PhD applicants, we require at least 2 letters of recommendation from academic sources.
  • For Undergraduate applicants, you may choose to submit a reference from a teacher or high school counselor, but it is not required.

Currently enrolled students can request a variety of official documents using the student portal. Use your student ID and login information to access the portal. There, you can find links to request transcripts and study confirmations and instructions on where to pick them up.

Yes, you can, however, you will need to have a guardian in Austria. Your guardian must be over the age of 18 and a legal resident of Austria. Additionally, your guardian must provide a letter of reference for you that states that he/she is legally and financially responsible for you. This letter of reference must be notarized. Proper documentation will have to be provided at the notary.

The interview is an approximately 30-minute (UG) or 45-minute (PG) meeting  with the Admissions coordinator. They will ask you about your motivation, your background, your documents and other information based on your application. It is important to be yourself – be natural, stay away from memorized scripts, and be ready to think and respond in the moment to the conversation. The interview is MU’s chance to get to know its future students, so we want to get insights into your personality and your potential.

You should be ready to have your camera on during the video call on Microsoft teams, and make sure that your interview setting allows for the admissions team to clearly see your face.
