Foundation Programs

Prepare for University and experience Vienna

The foundation program is a 1-semester pre-program and provides students with the essential preparation for a smooth transition into any of MU’s bachelor programs or other european universities. Students will achieve a level of proficiency in English and Mathematics in accordance to the university regulations and will also be exposed to key aspects in Business Administration, Geography and Economics. They will not only gain a theoretical education, but also have the necessary support for getting settled in Vienna and adapting to life in Austria and its culture. Upon successful completion of the foundation program and a final exam, students may directly enter the bachelor program of their choice at Modul University Vienna or continue their studies at a different university.

Spend your time wisely

Every year millions of high school graduates choose to continue their educational path and apply for university. MU's foundation programs are non-degree programs which may help you in gaining education that is required by your university.

You should consider the 1-semester Foundation Program if:

  • You didn't meet the requirements for your desired study program
  • You didn't get a spot in your chosen program and need to wait for the next intake
  • You would like to spend a semester in Vienna while being educated
  • You want to improve your English within an international community

MU offers two Foundation Programs that will prepare you for your preferred career path:

Foundation Program Tech - for everyone interested in taking classes related to data science and technology

If you are interested: German A-level courses are offered to all students on a voluntary basis. You can master the Foundation Program without any German skills.

Improve your English

Classes will be conducted in English only.
This is why we require these proficiency examinations:

  • IELTS band score 5.5 (no sub-score below 5.0)
  • TOEFL Internet Based Test: 65 points
  • Duolingo online exam: 85 points

Other equivalent English proficiency tests will be assessed on an individual basis. No proof is required if your first language is English.
